Another Summer Slam Series Round Victory for Robinson

The recent success of Mark Robinson in 2007/08 season continued on Saturday night at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway in Victoria when he claimed his second Summer Slam V8 Dirt Modified Series round victory on the trot.
After chasing down and passing home town favourite and current Australian Champion Tim Morse in two thirds race distance, Robinson, once out in front, was never headed and went on to score a victory, some five car lengths over his nearest rival Morse.
“This victory is a very special where we came from behind and beat [Tim] Morse, and that is not something you can do every time, especially on his home track, which he knows better than most,” Robinson said.
“My car seemed to get better as the 30-laps went on and with 10 laps to go I had worked my way into a position to pass [Tim] Morse and from there I was able to clear out from the field and take a comfortable victory.”
Despite his second round victory in a row, Robinson, still remains in third place behind leader Morse and second placed Scott Cannon in the current Summer Slam Series point standings.
“We managed to etch a few points away from the two leaders with our two wins, but there is still a lot more work to be done if I’m to move into the lead,” Robinson admitted.
“There are still three rounds remaining, and I feel that if I can continue my current form then I’m a got shot at the series, and my confidence has been boosted by the fact that the upcoming rounds are at tracks that I have had good recent form.”
Robinson will now take a weekend off before returning to the track for the latest round of the Super Rooster Cup at Toowoomba’s Charlton Speedway in Queensland on Australia Day, January 26.
